Health

Health at Inclusive Canada Foundation is built through movement, belonging, connection, and community support. Our programs use sport, mentorship, peer connection, and culturally familiar spaces to support physical activity, mental wellness, reduced isolation, youth confidence, and newcomer resilience.

Physical Activity and Wellness

Regular sport participation supports active living, physical confidence, teamwork, routine, and long-term wellness. Through cricket, indoor programming, youth training, and emerging multi-sport opportunities, we create low-barrier ways for newcomers, youth, students, and families to stay active and connected. We focus on physical literacy, year-round sport access, safe and inclusive participation, and women, girls, and youth participation where appropriate.

Mental Health and Belonging

Mental health and belonging are central to our work. Many newcomers, students, and youth experience isolation, settlement stress, uncertainty, and limited access to culturally familiar support networks. By creating consistent teams, mentors, peer groups, and welcoming programs, we help participants feel seen, included, and supported.

Social Connection and Reduced Isolation

Teams become social support networks. Regular practices, games, group chats, post-game recognition, rankings, highlights, and shared events help participants build friendships and stay connected between sessions. This is especially important for newcomers and students who may not yet have strong social networks in Canada.

Newcomer Youth Confidence and Resilience

Youth programs help young participants build confidence, discipline, communication, and resilience. When newcomer youth see themselves represented in teams, coaching, media, and leadership roles, they are more likely to stay engaged, ask for help, and imagine future pathways in sport, education, and community leadership.

Mental Health Literacy and Early Support

The foundation can use sport as an entry point for mental-health literacy, anti-stigma conversations, mentor check-ins, and early referral awareness. Where appropriate, participants can be connected to community services and partners such as PICS for settlement, employment, and broader support navigation.

Mentor, Coach, and Volunteer Capacity

Coaches, program officers, volunteers, mentors, and league leaders can be trained to create safer and more supportive environments. This includes recognizing when participants may need support, communicating respectfully, and helping connect people with appropriate resources when needed.

Year-round

Indoor and Tape-Ball for Year-Round Health

Indoor and tape-ball cricket help participants stay active during winter and rainy months. Year-round programming is important for physical health, routine, social connection, and mental wellness, especially for newcomers who may feel more isolated during colder months.

Technology-enabled connection

LMS technology supports connection beyond the field. Player profiles, rankings, live scoring, match updates, highlights, and post-game communications create recognition and continuity. These digital touchpoints help participants stay connected to their teams and community throughout the season.

Partner Connection

PICS and Newcomer Support Navigation

Where appropriate, participants can be connected to community services and partners such as PICS for settlement, employment, mental health, and broader support navigation.
